Chaste tree (Vitex Agnus Castus), also known as Pepe Falso or Pepe dei Monaci, the Chaste tree is a shrub of the Verbenaceae family.

Chaste tree is an essential oil that affects the female hormonal cycle. The ministry of health in Germany recommends it as it is effective in the case of premenstrual syndrome, to regularize the cycle and in menopause, by regulating anxiety and irritability. Dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil and massage the abdomen. Chaste tree is also used in cases of reduced breast milk production. It is called Pepe dei Monaci because it is used to suppress sexual desire in men.
Chaste tree has an acaricidal action and is a remedy against spider mites, polyphagous mites, considered one of the most dangerous pests of soybeans; infests in fact many vegetables (tomato, bean, etc.), ornamental trees and herbaceous plants, and most of the fruit plants.
Suggested uses:
- Bathtub: 8/10 drops of essential oil emulsified in coarse salt, milk, cream, or honey in hot water (to prevent the oil from evaporating due to the heat). We recommend, when using this oil, to mix it with other essential oils.
- Massages: we recommend diluting a few drops of essential oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil.
- Anti-mite spray: Dissolve two tablespoons of bicarbonate in a liter of hot water, add 10 drops of Chaste tree essential oil, wait for the mixture to cool, and spread abundantly on the affected parts.
