Description
Hyssop (Hyssopus Officinalis) essential oil, a symbol of purity and humility, is mentioned in Psalm 51: Purify me with hyssop and I shall be worldly, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow… During the plagues of Egypt, the exterminating angel ignored the houses whose doorposts had been marked with hyssop twigs dipped in the blood of a lamb.
Disclosure information:
The Ministry of Health recognises its ability to fluidify bronchial secretions and bring well-being to the upper respiratory tract. It has a digestive and carminative function.
In aromatherapy, it is used to balance blood circulation and has a diuretic effect. In synergy with lavender and sage, it is recommended as an ingredient in remedies for bruises and muscle strains.
It is recommended by aromatherapists for asthma, chronic coughs, and laryngitis.
Hyssop essential oil is widely used in liqueur production.
In subtle aromatherapy it has an effect in states of anxiety and when physical and verbal aggression predominates. It banishes gloomy ideas and fears in the sexual sphere and in the life of a couple. A sedative effect is attributed to it.
Suggested uses:
- Bath: a few drops of essential oil emulsified in coarse salt, milk, cream, or honey in hot water (to prevent the oil from evaporating due to the heat).
- Massage: we recommend diluting a few drops of the essential oil in a tablespoon of oil through a spoon.
Warnings: Moderately toxic, use with caution. Do not use in case of epilepsy, during pregnancy and lactation. If in doubt consult a doctor/pharmacist/herbalist.
