Pogostemon Patchouli

Symbol of the hippie rebellion during the 1960s, synonym of independence and sexual liberation, patchouli still evokes a fairy-tale and exotic world.
It comes from Sri Lanka.
The essential oil is steam-distilled from fermented and dried leaves.
It has a bitter-sweet, warm, spicy, and woody aroma.

Applied on the skin, it has bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, vulnerary, and deodorant properties. It leads to a deeper knowledge of our expressive possibilities, breaking conventions and eliminating unwillingness.

Suggested uses and dosage:

  • Home diffuser: add between 3 and 6 drops to 100 ml of water. We suggest to use it together with other essential oils.
  • Bathtub: emulsify 5-7 drops of essential oil with coarse salt — or alternatively milk, cream, or honey — to add to the hot water (so that the oil doesn’t evaporate due to the heat)
  • Massages: we recommend to dilute 2-4 drops of essential oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil
  • Cosmetics:
    – add 1-2 drops of essential oil to one tablespoon of natural moisturizer
    – to make a shampoo, body wash or conditioner, we recommend to add 10 drops per 200 ml

Caution: do not use in case of chronic diseases, pregnancy, or when breastfeeding.
Use with moderation, it can cause skin irritations.
If in doubt, please consult your doctor/naturopath.
